J and R only installs mulch from trusted suppliers. Mulch is available in different colors and wood types. The most common mulch types include: double ground hardwood and triple dyed brown, black, red and double ground hemlock. Also available but less commonly used mulches include: pine bark nuggets, certified playground safe mulch.

What Types of Mulch are Available?

Brown Double Ground Hardwood Mulch
A classic look that will never go out of style! Brown hardwood mulch is considered to have the longest lasting color retention among mulch varieties.

Black Double Ground Hardwood Mulch
Make a dramatic statement in your landscape with black hardwood mulch! This mulch adds a deep yet warm backdrop to showcase your landscape.

Red Double Ground Hardwood Mulch
Red mulch can be an instant attention-getter, so use it wisely!

Hemlock Double Ground Mulch
Hemlock mulch is a fragrant natural mulch that contains no dye. It has the reputation of having bug-repellent qualities.

Playground Certified Mulch
Playground certified mulch is an engineered wood fiber mulch that has been tested and certified to be free of dyes, sharp materials and debris and also has an established critical fall height when installed appropriately. Certified playground mulch is generally installed to a depth of 6" to meet the critical fall height requirements.
